How to Install and Use ArcGIS 10.2 for Desktop License Manager
ArcGIS 10.2 for Desktop License Manager is a software that allows you to install and manage licenses for ArcGIS for Desktop and ArcInfo Workstation products. The license manager can be installed on a machine where ArcGIS Concurrent Use versions will be run or on a machine where only the license manager will be installed. The number of licenses purchased determines the number of users who can run the products simultaneously. You can purchase licenses for Advanced, Standard, and Basic levels.
In this article, we will show you how to install and use ArcGIS 10.2 for Desktop License Manager on Windows.
Installing the License Manager
To install the license manager, you will need to use the authorization information that you received by email from Esri Customer Service when you purchased your product. You will also need to have administrative privileges on your computer and close all applications before starting the installation.
Follow these steps to install the license manager:
Choose the license manager option from the download menu. The license manager option starts \\license\\setup.exe.
Follow the instructions on the screen. The ArcGIS License Manager provides you with the ability to choose where you want to install the license manager. On Windows, the default installation location is C:\\Program Files\\ArcGIS\\License10.2.
Once you have completed the license manager installation, you can use the ArcGIS License Server Administrator to authorize licenses for the license manager. Click Authorization in the table of contents and click the Authorize Now button to launch the Software Authorization Wizard.
Follow the instructions on the dialog box to complete the authorization process. You will need to enter your authorization number and personal information. You can also choose to authorize online or offline.
Click Finish to close the wizard and return to License Server Administrator.

Right-click My Computer and click Properties.
Click Advanced system settings.

Click OK three times to apply changes and close all dialog boxes.
To edit a registry key, follow these steps:
Click Start > Run, type regedit, and click OK.
Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\SOFTWARE\\ESRI\\License10.2.
Double-click LICENSE_SERVER in the right pane.
Type @ followed by your license server name in Value data. For example, @mylicenseserver.
Click OK and close Registry Editor.
You can also use the ArcGIS Administrator tool on each client machine to specify the license manager name or IP address.
To check the status of your licenses, you can use the Availability tab in License Server Administrator. You can see how many licenses are available, borrowed, or in use for each product and level.
